Job Description

Zachry Engineering Corporation is currently accepting applications for a talented and self-motivated I&C Engineer I to join our I&C Department in Charlotte, NC. This is a great opportunity to get involved in interesting and challenging design projects in Power/Energy and Industrial markets.

Responsibilities

• Application of general electrical and controls engineering design practices while working with a Lead Engineer to prepare project deliverables.
• Assist in the design and specification of instrumentation required to safely operate various process systems.
• Assist with the creation of I&C documentation consisting of I/O and Instrument Lists, Wiring Schematics, and Design/Procurement Specifications.
• Prepare control narratives for system operation and monitoring.
• Work within a multidiscipline team to develop and progress the design on projects.
• Will have the ability to select and adapt plans, techniques, designs, and coordinate the work with the project team members for a successful design.
• Assist in reviewing, analyzing, and integrating design requirements of a project
  
  
  

Qualifications

• BS in engineering discipline in either electrical, mechanical, chemical, or process/controls engineering from an ABET accredited university.
• Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam is desirable.
• Basic understanding of digital/analog controls systems and some programming experience (practical or coursework) is a plus.
• Must possess excellent and clear verbal and written communication skills as well as presentation skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, is required.
• Effective time management skills are required as the position may involve working on multiple projects concurrently.
• A successful candidate will be required to understand and comply with company policies, procedures, and processes.
• Overtime work is required at times.
• Travel is required to client sites with periods of field/office work.
• Ability to perform walk downs of equipment in an industrial plant environment, to include climbing ladders, accessing security-controlled areas, and entering confined spaces and controlled hazardous areas is required.
  
  
  

Physical Demands

Employee will be required to communicate in person, via telephone, email, use of arm/hand steadiness, manual dexterity, finger dexterity, multi limb coordination, oral expression, and comprehension. May be required to lift, carry and move objects safely.

Work Environment

Employee will work in multiple environments including an office, warehouse and in a trailer or building on construction sites. On construction sites, noise levels will be moderate to high. Job sites may contain the following: light to heavy equipment vehicles, small to large equipment, materials, communication equipment and tools, people standing, walking, sitting, signaling, and talking. Noise levels vary and may include bells, whistles, and alarms.
