Position Summary
Zachry Construction is seeking a Senior Field Engineer - Wastewater to support and manage operations in the field while providing accurate information to project controls on daily work activities. This position assists superintendents and foremen in executing work accurately based on drawings and specifications and reports to the Project Engineer. A successful Senior Field Engineer will serve as a key liaison between craft supervision, owners, vendors, subcontractors, and project team members to ensure efficiency and quality across all project phases.

Position Summary
Zachry Construction is seeking a Senior Field Engineer - Wastewater to support and manage operations in the field while providing accurate information to project controls on daily work activities. This position assists superintendents and foremen in executing work accurately based on drawings and specifications and reports to the Project Engineer. A successful Senior Field Engineer will serve as a key liaison between craft supervision, owners, vendors, subcontractors, and project team members to ensure efficiency and quality across all project phases.
What You’ll Do
- Participate in the Estimate Turnover Meeting
- Perform quantity takeoffs
- Assist in converting the estimate to a controlled budget and set up job files
- Coordinate and review submittals
- Attend and participate in daily and weekly safety meetings
- Manage quantities and perform quantity takeoffs, as required
- Procure and schedule subcontractors and materials to ensure crew needs are met
- Manage subcontractors and suppliers with the support of staff, superintendents, and foremen
- Assist in work plan development and monitoring with project engineer, superintendents, and foremen
- Manage quantity and cost reporting as accurately as possible and report results to superintendents and foremen
- Assist with change order pricing
- Participate in the project document control process
- Assist in documentation between Zachry, owners, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Maintain accurate project drawings and specifications
- Participate in the project close-out process
- Finalize cost report quantities used for payment applications and project reports
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of As-Built drawings
- Perform other related duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For
- A minimum of 3 years of recent wastewater experience
- Experience working on medium to large projects required
- Experience supporting multiple disciplines related to wastewater projects
- Experience with Hard Dollar and SAP systems preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline preferred
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Strong prioritization and organizational skills; detail-oriented
- Proficient in Microsoft programs such as Excel and Word
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be capable, licensed, and approved to drive a company vehicle to work sites, offices, and other locations as required
- Must be able to climb ladders and scaffolding and walk on uneven surfaces throughout the construction site
