Senior Business Intelligence Developer

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior Business Intelligence Developer to join our team in Reston, VA. The Senior BI Developer will design and maintain semantic models, optimize BI/AI performance, and collaborate with data engineering and analytics teams to deliver scalable, governed insights across the organization.

Responsibilities of the Senior Business Intelligence Developer include:

• Develop and maintain AI-enhanced analytics pipelines
• Leverage generative AI and automation tools to improve BI applications
• Design and maintain semantic models, governed explores, and reusable data marts
• Implement and manage a shared metrics layer with version control and testing
• Write advanced SQL for BI/AI models and optimize queries for performance
• Define data contracts and enforce quality standards with Data Engineering teams
• Mentor BI Analysts on modeling, query optimization, and dashboard performance
  
  

Qualifications for the Senior Business Intelligence Developer include:

• Proven experience driving AI adoption in analytics workflows
• Strong proficiency in SQL and BI semantic modeling (e.g., LookML or equivalent)
• Familiarity with modern ELT stacks and cloud warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery)
• Scripting experience in Python or R for automation and testing
• Understanding of BI governance, performance tuning, and data contracts
• Awareness of open table formats (Iceberg/Delta) and query engines
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a US government
  
  

Compensation for the Senior Business Intelligence Developer includes:

• Salary Range: $120,000 - $150,000 depending on experience
