Z's Divine Espresso, a locally owned coffee roaster with two storefronts in Lawrence, KS, is looking for a new Barista to join our team. In this role, you'll craft delicious beverages, manage both drive-thru and in-store orders, serve bagels and breakfast from our kitchen, all while ensuring great customer service. As a key member of our café team, you'll thrive in a fast-paced setting, while having the opportunity to serve a long-standing customer base that has continued to grow with us in our over 25 years in the Lawrence area.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages, teas, and specialty drinks with skill and consistency.
- Prepare bagels and pastries in accordance with food safety standards.
- Operate POS system to process transactions accurately.
- Manage cash handling responsibilities with integrity, including cashiering and basic math calculations.
- Provide excellent customer service by engaging with guests, answering questions, and accommodating special requests.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café area, including food handling stations and seating spaces.
- Support food industry standards by adhering to food safety protocols and proper food handling procedures.
- Assist in restocking supplies to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Demonstrate effective time management to handle busy periods seamlessly while maintaining quality service.
Requirements & Experience
- Previous barista experience in a café or food service environment is preferred but not required; enthusiasm for coffee and serving others is essential.
- Familiarity with POS systems such as Square or Clover are preferred.
- Good communication skills, and ability work as part of a team.
- General knowledge of food safety practices and proper food handling techniques.
- Basic math skills for cash handling, retail math calculations, and sales transactions are necessary.
- Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays, as needed
