Reports To: ADMINISTRATOR AND/OR FACILITY MANAGER
Job Summary - Part-Time Overnight 11pm-7am
This position will require an individual at least 21 years of age with the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
· Knowledge and understanding of the needs of the program participants served in a Children and Non-Minor Dependents (NMD) residential setting
· Must be proficient in Microsoft 365 - Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
· Skills and abilities to engage and develop a rapport with Children and Non-Minor Dependents (NMD) who have various backgrounds
· Skills and ability to provide consistency and behavioral limits through relationship-based interventions
· Skills to communicate effectively with the ability to solve problems in a collaborative manner
· Skills and ability to engage and develop a rapport with children who have various diverse backgrounds
Minimum/Desired Qualifications And Experience
DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL (DSP) shall meet one of the following criteria:
· A Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) or Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree / In progress acceptable
· Completed 12 semester units of Early Childhood Education, Adolescent Development, or Foster and Kinship Care Education and have 100 hours of experience working with youth
· Completed Year 1 & 2 of Direct Support Professional (DSP)
· Valid Child Development Teaching Permit
· Valid Alcohol Counselor, Drug Counselor, or Alcohol and Drug Counselor Certificate and have 100 hours of experience working with youth
· Valid Vocational Training Certificate, Credential or documentation stating the individual is a trade journeyperson and instructs vocational skills to children and have 100 hours of experience working with youth
· Have previously been employed as a staff or volunteer at a (STRTP) for at least one year
· Have relevant experience as determined by the Department of Social Services to meet any of the above requirements
Sample Responsibilities And Duties
The list is neither inclusive nor exclusive, but indicative of several types of duties performed such as:
· Provide general supervision to Children and Non-Minor Dependents (NMD) in accordance with the policies of the facility and Trauma Informed Principles.
· Support the needs of the Children and Non-Minor Dependents (NMD) in a culturally and linguistically responsible manner as well as maintain a friendly and outgoing demeanor.
· Document Mental Health Interventions occurring on AM shift on Shift Exchange Report, and the Electronic Health Record System; and collect other health and outcome data as required.
· Wake up Children and Non-Minor Dependents (NMD) and see that they are prepared for school, including appropriate hygiene and dress, and assisting with administering prescribed medications, etc.
· Conduct morning check-ins before Children and Non-Minor Dependents (NMD) leave for school, addressing any concerns and help the Children and Non-Minor Dependents (NMD) set goals for the day.
· Assign and supervise the Children and Non-Minor Dependents (NMD) in various daily maintenance tasks expected of them (i.e., cleaning room, making beds, dusting furniture, mopping floors, assisting in mealtime setup and cleanup procedures).
· Transport Children and Non-Minor Dependents (NMD) to appointments (medical, dental), school or community group outings and designated locations ensuring compliance with transportation rules and ensuring proper upkeep of the van.
· Adheres to all federal, state, and local rules including company policies and procedures.
· Check-in with Overnight Staff, read shift exchange and Incident Reports to be aware of the participants overnight status and transmit the information to the school program as necessary.
· When the Children and Non-Minor Dependents (NMD) are not in school, Direct Support Professionals (DSP) are required to supervise the Children and Non-Minor Dependents (NMD) at the (STRTP) by following the facility schedule.
· Participate in a check-in group to ensure adequate reporting of participants concerns during the day and resolving any conflicts from the school program or occurring on the van ride.
· Complete thorough bedroom checks when the students are at school (check for needed repairs, hazardous conditions, food and plates, clean dresser drawers, etc.).
· Conduct 30-minute rounds throughout the shift.
· Attend assigned (STRTP) Weekly Staff Meetings and Supervision each week.
· Proactively support the maintenance of an inclusive and respectful working environment.
· Some work weekends and holidays may be required.
· Perform household duties directed towards developing program participants self-help skills; may be performed by the participants in placement. Program participant participation in these duties shall be voluntary and specified in their individualized Needs and Service Plan. No household duties shall go undone because a program participant refuses to participate.
· Provides verbal and non-verbal crisis de-escalation and intervention for Children and Non-Minor Dependents (NMD).
· Complete progress notes and/or incident reports for Children and Non-Minor Dependents (NMD) by end of shift.
· As directed by the Continuous Quality Improvement Committee, collect information on an ongoing basis to aid in quality improvement measures to improve policies, practices, and program participant satisfaction.
· Ensures the health and safety of program participants using a proactive approach
· In the absence of the Facility Manager, serve as the designated Facility Manager for the shift.
· Other duties as described in the (STRTP) Direct Support Professionals (DSP) job description and as directed by (STRTP) Facility Manager and Administrator.
