About the Role
As a General Construction Worker at Zekelman Industries in Killeen, Texas, you will play a key role in assembling, installing, and maintaining modular units both in our production facility and at construction sites. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys hands-on work, thrives in a team environment, and is committed to maintaining high safety and quality standards.
What You’ll Do
- Operates and maintains tools and equipment to perform installation, assembly, and repair tasks.
- Installs and assembles components and fixtures according to project specifications in both plant and field environments.
- Prepares surfaces and structures for finishing or additional work.
- Identifies and resolves basic production and construction issues.
- Collaborates with team members to meet deadlines and uphold quality standards.
- Follows detailed instructions and plans to complete work accurately.
- Communicates progress, material needs, and issues to supervisors or management.
- Manages time effectively to achieve project goals.
- Promotes and follows safe work practices in compliance with regulations and company policies.
- Maintains consistent, full-time, predictable onsite attendance as an essential job function.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Who You Are
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in manufacturing or construction, with hands-on work in assembly, construction, or related tasks.
- Familiarity with hand and power tools; mobile equipment experience preferred.
- Experience with modular construction or prefabrication is a plus.
- Basic understanding of safety protocols in production or construction settings.
- Eligible to work in the United States.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow instructions.
- Proficient in using hand and power tools.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Commitment to safety awareness and adherence to construction safety rules.
Physical Abilities
- Ability to lift and carry up to 80 pounds and push or pull up to 50 pounds.
- Strong balance, hand-eye coordination, and manual dexterity.
- Ability to meet visual and auditory acuity requirements.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
