Independent Courier Contractor Needed

Job description:

Yzer is looking to contract dependable and self-motivated Independent Contractors to perform last-mile deliveries transporting packages. As a 1099 contractor, you will use your own vehicle to complete assigned routes and ensure timely, accurate, and professional service. Successful candidates will be responsible for managing their schedules, maintaining delivery accuracy, and complying with safety and delivery guidelines.

Location: Buffalo, NY 14225 (in person)

Hours: M-F 5:00am to 3:00pm

Pay: Starting at $150 per day

Job Responsibilities:

· Pick up packages from designated distribution centers and deliver them to customers’ homes or businesses on assigned routes.

· Use your own vehicle to complete deliveries in a timely, safe, and efficient manner while following all local traffic laws.

· Load and organize packages to ensure accurate and efficient route execution.

· Use a smartphone or delivery app to track deliveries, scan packages, obtain signatures, and update delivery statuses in real time.

· Communicate with dispatch or support teams regarding delays, issues, or customer concerns.

· Provide professional and courteous service at each delivery location.

· Follow all safety protocols and delivery procedures, including handling package exceptions (e.g., missing, damaged, or undeliverable items).

· Manage fuel, vehicle maintenance, and mileage tracking as part of your independent operation.

· Adapt quickly to route changes, volume fluctuations, or time-sensitive delivery windows.

· Maintain accurate delivery records and complete all required documentation.

Qualifications

· Must be at least 21 years of age.

· Valid driver’s license.

· Reliable high top sprinter van or box truck.

· Proof of valid auto insurance meeting minimum state and company requirements.

· Ability to complete a background check, MVR, and drug screening (if applicable).

· Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to work independently.

· Excellent communication and customer service skills.

· Comfortable using smartphones, GPS, and delivery apps to manage routes and track deliveries.

· Ability to lift and carry packages up to 75 lbs., navigate stairs, drive for long periods, and handle repetitive motions throughout the workday.

· Flexible availability, including potential weekend and holiday work depending on delivery volume.

· Prior delivery or courier experience is preferred but not required.

· Tech Proficiency: Comfortable using smartphones, mobile apps, and digital tools to complete deliveries and updates.

· Reliability: Consistently meets delivery commitments and follows through on responsibilities.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

· Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull packages weighing up to 75 lbs. on a regular basis.

· Capable of standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing in and out of a vehicle frequently throughout the day.

· Comfortable driving for extended periods, often in various weather and traffic conditions.

· Ability to perform repetitive motions such as reaching, handling, and grasping while loading/unloading packages.

· Must be able to use hands and arms to operate handheld devices and delivery apps.

· Stamina to meet the physical demands of a fast-paced delivery route, including walking long distances and climbing stairs as needed.
