Location: YWCA Preschool Program
Schedule: Part-time, typically 9:00 AM β 3:00 PM
Pay: $21 per hour
Reports to: Site Supervisor
Position Summary
The Food Preparer / Assistant Teacher prepares and serves meals for children while also supporting classrooms and providing teacher breaks. This role is essential to maintaining daily operations, licensing compliance, and a calm, structured environment for children and staff.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation
- Prepare and serve daily meals and snacks following CACFP and licensing guidelines
- Maintain cleanliness and food safety standards in the kitchen
- Follow proper food handling and sanitation procedures
Classroom Support
- Provide teacher breaks while maintaining ratios and active supervision
- Assist with classroom routines, transitions, and mealtimes
- Support children in a safe, nurturing, and respectful manner
Health & Safety
- Follow all YWCA policies and state licensing regulations
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience with children preferred
- Food handler certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Reliable, organized, and able to multitask
