Residential Coordinator Job Description


Position Summary

The Residential Coordinator is responsible for supporting the effective operation of the residential program through staff supervision, program coordination, and service delivery oversight. 

This position works collaboratively with the Director of Residential Services to ensure the provision of high-quality, trauma-informed services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, human trafficking, and other violent crimes.
The Residential Coordinator provides direct supervision to residential staff, coordinates shelter operations, ensures compliance with agency policies and procedures, and promotes a safe, professional, and client-centered environment. This position serves as a key leader within the residential program and supports continuous quality improvement, staff development, and effective service coordination.
 

The Residential Coordinator demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of trauma and its impact on survivors and service providers while maintaining a strong commitment to the mission and values of YWCA York.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Residential Services in the recruitment, onboarding, supervision, scheduling, evaluation, and retention of residential staff.
 • Develop and maintain staff schedules to ensure continuous 24-hour, seven-day-per-week shelter coverage.
 • Monitor daily shelter operations to ensure compliance with agency policies, licensing requirements, and best practices.
 • Coordinate and facilitate staff meetings, trainings, house meetings, and program-related activities.
 • Provide guidance, coaching, and performance feedback to residential staff.
 • Conduct shelter intake assessments and determine eligibility for residential services.
 • Collaborate with case management staff to support service planning, goal achievement, and resident stability.
 • Ensure the safety and security of shelter residents, staff, visitors, and agency property.
 • Develop and maintain productive working relationships with community partners, service providers, and referral sources.
 • Maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with agency policies, VOCA requirements, and applicable laws and regulations.
 • Perform additional duties as assigned to support agency operations and program effectiveness.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, or a related field perferred.
 • Minimum of two years of experience in residential services, victim services, crisis intervention, case management, or a related human services field.
 • Supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
 • Completion of required PCAR, PCADV, PCCD, or equivalent advocate training within 90 days of employment.

• Knowledge of domestic violence, sexual violence, human trafficking, and victim service systems.
 • Understanding of trauma-informed service delivery and survivor-centered practices.
 • Strong leadership, supervision, and team development skills.
 • Ability to make sound decisions in crisis situations and exercise independent judgment.
 • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
 • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
 • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
 • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
