Youth Enrichment Counselor
General Description
The Youth Enrichment Counselor must be a warm, sensitive, and mature individual who is able to relate well to both children and adults and is willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with educational and developmentally appropriate philosophy.
Essential Duties
- Plans, supervises, and implements the daily program for assigned group under the direction of the Program Coordinator
- Maintains the ordered arrangement, appearance, and learning environment of their assigned space
- Assists in the ongoing evaluation procedures needed to assess the developmental levels of the children
- Helps to gear the program to meet the individual children’s needs with concern for their interests, challenges, special talents and individual style
- Treats children with dignity and respect
- Provides a positive role model for children to learn
- Act in a professional manner at all times
- Follow all requirements set by the Child Care Regulations, the Program Coordinator, and the YWCA.
- Address parental concerns if the Coordinator is unavailable and bring those concerns to the Coordinator as soon as possible
- Attends scheduled staff supervision meetings, and special events as assigned.
- Perform miscellaneous job related duties as assigned by the Coordinator
- Complete a minimum of 20 hours per year of recommended training programs conducted by professionals in the field; professional conferences; courses at an approved institution of higher education; or similar activities such as classroom observation, reading relevant books and articles, etc.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Must be eighteen years old with High School Diploma or GED
- Pass criminal background check
- Experience working with children preferred but not required
Position Hours and Location (2 shift options available)
- Option 1: M - F 7:00 - 9:00am (before school) and M - F 1:30 - 5:00pm during the school year (after school)
- Option 2: M - F 7:00 - 9:00am (before school) and M - F 3:00 - 5:30pm during the school year (after school)

- $17.00/hour
