What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Preschool Lead Teacher (Universal PreK) position at YWCA Princeton?
YWCA Princeton is excited to expand our early childhood education team with the hire of a Lead Teacher for the Pre-K Program of The Burke Foundation Early Childhood Center. The Lead Teacher is responsible for teaching subject matter in accordance with the Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies GOLD Assessment. This position is a part of the Universal PreK Program in partnership with the Princeton Public School District. Candidates must have personality, patience, creativity and the ability to provide stability for program continuity and must be flexible to work between the hours of 8am to 3:30pm.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Create and maintain a warm, safe, and stimulating classroom environment
- Teach using Creative Curriculum and assess progress using Teaching Strategies GOLD
- Prepare lesson plans and adapt them to the unique needs of each child
- Foster respectful, nurturing relationships with children and families
- Ensure classroom safety, including monitoring during outdoor time and field trips
- Maintain accurate records including attendance, reports, and care logs
- Communicate regularly and positively with parents
- Collaborate with fellow staff and support YWCA mission-driven events and initiatives
Skills and Requirements:
- Must submit a New Jersey CE or CEAS certification with your resume, and college transcripts.
- CPR/First Aid/ARC certifications (or willingness to obtain within 90 days)
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
- Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills

Salary : $60,000 - $65,000
