What are the responsibilities and job description for the Relief Sexual Assault Advocate position at YWCA Oklahoma City?
YWCA Oklahoma City is currently seeking a part-time Sexual Assault Advocate. We are seeking dynamic professionals, who are energetic, take initiative, proactively build and maintain relationships, and demonstrate appropriate decision making skills. The Relief Sexual Assault Advocate Staff provides emotional support, advocacy and crisis intervention to primary and secondary victims of sexual assault and victims of domestic violence at hospitals. This position requires being available to be on call and respond to the hospital between 6pm-6am M-F, all day Saturday and Sunday, and holidays. These hours will be shared with other Sexual Assault Advocates. Primarily seeking applicants who are available 6pm-12am and 12am-6am, at this time.
Job Duties:
-Assist in maintaining advocacy and crisis intervention services to victims of sexual assault in the social service, legal, law enforcement, hospital and medical settings and/or any safe and appropriate site as needed by the client.
-Provide support and information regarding hospital and police procedures.
-Work with hospital staff, SANEs and law enforcement to ensure the best possible care to clients.
-Assist clients in accessing additional resources and/or safety planning as needed, including information regarding Victims Compensation.
-Work as a team to provide 24/7 coverage for monthly schedule.
-Complete and fulfill assigned/scheduled on call shifts, unless previously approved by Supervisor.
-Help provide debriefing for volunteer crisis advocates during coverage hours.
-Complete all required agency forms and/or documentation required by licensing and funding sources.
-Attend orientation for new employees, scheduled in-service training and complete ongoing annual training requirement as required by agency and funding source.
Qualifications:Associate’s Degree and one year of related sexual assault/domestic violence experience preferred. Bilingual preferred. Strong listening, verbal and written communication skills are required along with good crisis management and problem solving skills.
