We are looking for a nurturing and passionate Full Time Temporary Preschool Teacher to join our dynamic early childhood education team and help foster a safe, enriching, and developmentally supportive environment for keiki in our care.
**This is a temporary position (2 - 4 months assignment) and is not guaranteed to continue beyond the temporary assignment period. Employment is at-will, meaning the employee or the Company may end employment at any time, with or without cause or notice, as permitted by law**
Position Overview
As a Full Time Temporary Preschool Teacher, you will play a vital role in creating a classroom that supports children's growth through curiosity, creativity, and exploration. You will implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum that encourages social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development while maintaining strong communication with families and upholding licensing and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain a safe, organized, and engaging classroom environment that encourages learning through play.
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lessons using the Creative Curriculum.
- Guide children in developing independence, self-help skills, and positive social behaviors.
- Observe and assess children's development; document and share progress with families.
- Maintain open, respectful, and proactive communication with parents and caregivers.
- Ensure childrens safety and respond to emergencies following established procedures.
- Maintain a clean and healthy classroom in accordance with licensing and health guidelines.
- Collaborate with co-teachers, assistants, and support staff.
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and ongoing professional development.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 12 Early Childhood Education (ECE) credits required; AA or BA in ECE or a related field preferred.
- At least 6 months of classroom experience working with preschool-age children.
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Must meet all DHS licensing requirements and pass background checks.
- Deep commitment to the well-being and development of young children.
- Strong understanding of early childhood best practices and learning through play.
- Ability to communicate effectively with children, families, and coworkers.
- Demonstrated reliability, flexibility, and collaboration in a team environment.
- Physical ability to lift up to 40 lbs, bend, kneel, and sit on the floor as needed.
Physical & Work Environment
This position requires frequent standing, walking, sitting on the floor, lifting and carrying children and classroom materials, and occasional outdoor supervision. The Preschool Teacher works in a classroom and playground setting and must be comfortable working with young children in a dynamic, often noisy environment.
