Janitorial/Maintenance Associate - Part Time
Reports to: Director of Facilities
FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt, hourly, part time
Hours: 6am-11am-Mon-Fri with potential for more hours as operational needs are assessed
Pay: $18-$20 per hour depending upon experience

The Janitorial/Maintenance Specialist is responsible for the safety, functionality, and cleanliness of YWCA’s buildings, grounds, and parking areas. The Associate supports the facilities/janitorial team, works closely with the Director of Facilities, and collaborates across departments to maintain a safe, welcoming, and well-cared-for environment for all staff, members, and visitors.

Essential Responsibilities
Janitorial & Maintenance
- Ensure a consistently high standard of cleanliness across the facility, including common areas, restrooms, offices, childcare areas, and outdoor spaces.
- Restock janitorial supply items such as paper towels, soap and toilet paper as needed
- Empty trash and recycling bins and dispose of waste properly
- Conduct routine inspections of facility to identify maintenance needs
- Perform minor repairs such as fixing leaks, replacing light bulbs, and repairing fixtures
- Support childcare with janitorial needs as requested
- Oversee cleaning supply and equipment inventory in coordination with the Director of Facilities.
- Maintain cleaning equipment in safe, functional condition.
- Provide supplemental support to janitorial/maintenance staff and contractors as needed.
- Assist with opening duties and other security procedures to safeguard organizational assets.
- Participate in mandated testing and drills (e.g., fire and lockdown drills).
- Monitor and report larger maintenance issues or safety hazards
- Provide welcoming, professional support to staff, members, and visitors.
- Respond promptly and respectfully to concerns or requests.
- Work independently while also contributing to a collaborative team environment.
- Assist with set up and breakdown for events or meetings as needed

Education/Experience:
- 1-3 years of commercial janitorial experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- DCDEE background check and fingerprinting
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently
- Demonstrated attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-service focus.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Proficiency with Google Suite and other computer applications.
- Regularly stand for long periods, walk, bend, stoop, and climb stairs.
- Work in close quarters, on ladders, and in outdoor conditions (including rain and snow).
- Use power and hand tools safely.
- Lift and move objects weighing 50 pounds or more.
- Drive a vehicle for work-related tasks as needed.
