Job Description
Position: Lead Teacher
Classification: Full-time, Non- Exempt
Reports To: Bright Futures Childcare Center Program Director
Position Summary: The Leader is responsible for the care and education of a group of children and functions as a Lead Teacher or co-leader. The leader plans and implements a weekly lesson plan and works with parents to assess the needs of individual children and support the YWCA’s mission of eliminating racism and empowering women.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years of age;
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalency;
- 6 months experience in a licensed childcare facility;
- First Aid and CPR certified;
- SIDS or other certification requirements within 3 months of training;
- Must be able to obtain approval letter of qualification from DCDEE;
- Must have credentials EDU 119 or NCDHHS online equivalency certificate;
- Completed DCDEE Staff Health Assessment, TB Test, and Health Questionnaire;
- Must pass a criminal background check, and;
- Must hold a valid NC driver’s license and drive the YWCA vehicles.
Responsibilities:
To support social and emotional development and provide positive guidance
- To establish and maintain a safe and healthy environment that is clean, safe, stimulating, and which is appropriate for each child’s development;
- Actively supervise children;
- Plan and implement engaging activities;
- Report issues and concerns immediately to the supervisor;
- Uphold rules and regulations set forth by DCDEE;
- Serve and eat meals with children;
- Treat each child, parent, family member, and coworker with dignity and respect;
- Consider the individual child in relationship to his/her culture and socioeconomic background;
- Help each child become aware of his/her role as an integral member of a group, and;
- Any other duties assigned.

- Attend all staff meetings and other mandatory or required in-service trainings;
- Maintain flexibility and consistency with all staff;
- Maintain confidentiality regarding staff, families, and children at all times;
- Relate to families positively and respectfully; and

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $31,200.00 - $39,000.00 per year
