Job Description
Position: Community Outreach Support Staff
Classification: Part-Time, Non-Exempt Hours: 20 hours a week, Daytime hours and 1-2 evenings a week. Reports to: Early Parenthood Program Coordinator
Position Summary: The Community Support Staff plays a vital role in ensuring a safe, supportive, and empowering environment for individuals and families to access YWCA services. This role provides direct support, crisis intervention, referrals, and resources to clients while upholding the YWCA’s mission of eliminating racism and empowering women.
Minimum Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in social work, psychology, or a related field preferred.
· Experience working in a nonprofit or social service program, community service, home visiting, or office setting is an asset.
· Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
· Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and any additional participant reporting systems.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced or crisis setting.
· Knowledge of trauma-informed care (preferred), harm reduction, and resilience practices.
· Cultural competency and the ability to work with diverse populations. CPR/First Aid and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification (or willingness to obtain).
· Background check required upon hire.
· A valid North Carolina Driver's License.
Responsibilities:
· Provide direct support and advocacy to individuals and families in YWCA programs (e.g., transitional housing and crisis response).
· Conduct regular check-ins and facilitate a circle of parent support group with clients to support goal setting and progress.
· Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions, data collection, resource referrals, incidents, and reporting service delivery using internal systems.
· Support clients in accessing community resources such as housing, healthcare, employment, legal services, and education for young mothers and grandparents.
· Coordinating speakers and events for client group meetings.
· Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment, promoting trauma-informed and culturally competent care.
· Collaborate with other YWCA staff and partner organizations as needed.
· Participate in team meetings, trainings, and staff development activities.
· Recruitment and community outreach for EPP Program.
· Ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds.

· Professional Development: Commit to 10 hours of annual professional development to improve program outcomes.
· Confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality regarding staff, families, and children at all times and relate to families positively and respectfully.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
