Job Description:
The CHAT Program Director is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Community Health Awareness Team that provides sexual health prevention education and positive youth development programming. This position reports to the Director of Programs and is responsible for facilitating programming, staff and intern supervision, data collection, and collaboration with community partners.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Implementation:
- Coordinate and facilitate sexual and reproductive health, and positive youth development programming and outreach efforts.
- Monitor program progress and make necessary adjustments to ensure optimal outcomes.
Staff Supervision:
- Supervise Community & Peer Health Educators.
- Train new educators.
- Direct on-site observation of educational program delivery;
- Conduct performance evaluations for Community Educators and Peer Health Educators.
- Ability to respond with urgent concerns that may occur during programming.
- Confer with the Director of Programs regarding performance issues.
Data Collection and Analysis:
- Oversee data collection to monitor program progress and outcomes.
- Assist the Director of Programs with bi-annual report generation.
- Ensure compliance with programmatic standards.
Community Partnerships:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners, including schools, healthcare providers, and other youth-serving organizations.
- Identifies barriers and ensures access to comprehensive reproductive healthcare and family planning services and other essential support services for teens.
- Establishes relationships with other community health and human service providers and develops referral mechanisms.
- Represent the YWCA at community meetings and events.
Human Resources
- Promotes open and honest communication
- Works well as a team member; models and facilitates the team approach
- May be asked to assist in the development of staff training/professional development
Grant Compliance:
- Assist the Director of Programs with monitoring grant budgets and expenditures.
- Participation in ACT for Youth program evaluation and trainings; as required by NYSDOH.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in health education, public health, social work, or health related field with supervisory experience
- Experience working with youth with a demonstrated ability to be inclusive and non stigmatizing of youth in their role.
- Ability to facilitate classes to youth in a variety of settings on reproductive health topics such as reproductive anatomy, contraceptive methods, STIs, and HIV/AIDS.
- Knowledge of or experience with priority population to be served and community.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and/or weekends.
- Experience in project management
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in data collection and analysis.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Pay: $21.70 - $22.90 per hour
