We are looking for an organized, determined and motivated candidate to join our team as a Volunteer Coordinator.
JOB SUMMARY
The primary purpose of the position is to develop the volunteer program. The Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the recruitment, onboarding, and retainment of volunteers as well as creating a strategic approach to in-kind giving that fosters a mission driven, advocacy focused program relational to fund development.
The Volunteer Coordinator plans, coordinates, and implements the volunteer program, cause marketing, in-kind giving, and outreach to support emergency shelters, prevention and intervention, economic empowerment and advancement, and gender and racial equity.
Specific Duties:
- Recruit, screen, orient and verify volunteers.
- Identify one training opportunity per quarter for volunteers.
- Serve as the point of contact for the volunteer program
- Planning orientations, coordinating volunteer placement
- Manage communication/marketing with prospective volunteers from the community, schools and businesses.
- Establish and maintain consistent communication with volunteers.
- Respond to specific needs of volunteers.
- Supervise and oversee all volunteers and execution of programming in-kind giving
- Coordinate with Director of Development to secure volunteers and oversee execution of the following programs, overseeing volunteer involvement and working in conjunction with other staff

- Career Women of Achievement
- Racial Justice Breakfast
- MLK Day March
- She Screams without Sound
- Maintain an up-to-date volunteer database, track volunteer hours and activities
- Exhibit patience, tact and exhibit a cheerful disposition working with volunteers and staff
- Establish a forthcoming and honest communication with the executive leadership staff
- Collaborate with department managers to identify and create volunteer positions and opportunities
- Promote programs and all new initiatives.
- Prepare and submit all required reports in a timely manner
- Prepare and execute volunteer acknowledgement activities from start to completion
- Attend and participate in regularly scheduled department meetings.
- Attend and participate in on-site training and outside training sources that benefit and support the growth and development of the volunteer program.
- Ability to be self-directed in day-to-day duties and responsibilities
- Meet with immediate supervisor to review reports as needed.
- Abide by all policies and procedures of YWCA
- Other duties as assigned
Working Requirements
- A valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record and proof of current vehicle insurance
- Dependable transportation
- Strong organizational skills, work ethic and ability to handle multiple tasks
- Ability to read, write and understand the English language
- Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant
- Ability to work flexible working hours necessary to perform the duties of Volunteer Coordinator
- Adept in Microsoft office and the ability to multi task with frequent interruptions
- Commitment to understanding and communicating effectively across cultural backgrounds
Educational and Experience Requirements
- Associate’s degree preferred. High School diploma or GED required.
- Two (2) years proven experience at a nonprofit organization.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Working Hours/Environment
Full-time 37.5 hours per week; 100% in- office working policy.

Personal computer, copier, fax/scanner, phone, and other typical office equipment
