  • JOB SUMMARY YWCA Greater Cincinnati is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. This position plays a key role in supporting this mission through consistent and compassionate engagement.

The Safety Specialist will greet all who enter and exit shelter, assist with new intakes, monitor the full camera system, intercom system, alarm system, and entry/exit system, as well as managing the operations of the hot room.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Greet all residents, children, staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners coming through Welcome Center.
  • Monitor camera (interior & exterior), alarm and intercom systems.
  • Facilitate monthly fire drills and complete required documentation.
  • Give indoor & outdoor access to residents, volunteers, and partners.
  • Initiate intake process.
  • Turn on hot room at beginning of shift; manage daily operations of hot room.
  • Update emergency service log when needed.
  • Attend monthly Incident Review Committee meetings.
  • Clean and sanitize the welcome center area during and at the end of each shift.
  • Remove and dispose of office trash at the end of each shift.
  • Provide and receive completed satisfaction surveys at the time of exit.
  • Schedule transportation support approved by the management team.
  • Other duties as needed or assigned by the Operations Manager.

CLERICAL/ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES

  • Submit work orders through Limble system as needed.
  • Create signage; laminate as needed.
  • Complete sign in/sign out sheets for residents and staff.
  • Maintain additional copies on all relevant forms in welcome center.
  • Scan and copy paperwork, documentation as needed or requested.

  • QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Education/Experience

  • High School Diploma/GED with 1-2 years’ experience completing clerical/administrative duties.
  • CCTV experience.

Preferred Education/Experience Skills/Specialized Knowledge/Abilities

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years working with clients experiencing homelessness.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years working with survivors and families experiencing intimate partner violence/family violence.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years demonstrating expertise in trauma informed practices and advocacy services.
  • Advanced attention to detail and accuracy in all work
  • Ability to maintain the highest levels of confidentiality regarding business and staff information
  • Intermediate ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
  • WORKING CONDITIONS Working Hours/Environment
  • 3rd Shift Tuesday - Saturday 9:00 p.m. - 5:00 a.m.
  • Work performed typically in a shelter environment; fully on-site with no remote/hybrid option.

  • Body motor skills sufficient to enable incumbent to move around the office and residential environment.
