Join a mission-driven team at YWCA Bradford’s Victims’ Resource Center as a Residential Shelter Manager. This full-time position provides compassionate support and advocacy for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in a safe, empowering shelter environment. Position Summary:
The Residential Shelter Manager works within the YWCA’s Domestic Violence Emergency Shelter, providing compassionate, individualized support to residents. This position helps participants address safety, abuse, and housing-related concerns through case management, advocacy, and empowerment counseling. The Shelter Manager ensures a safe, supportive, and structured environment that promotes healing and independent living skills.

Schedule:
Full-time, 32 hours per week (Wednesday through Saturday)
Second shift: 11:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all shelter residents.
  • Provide crisis intervention, advocacy, and empowerment counseling to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
  • Conduct intakes, explain shelter procedures, residents’ rights, and confidentiality guidelines.
  • Facilitate weekly case management meetings and counseling sessions with residents.
  • Assist residents in developing goal plans addressing safety, housing, finances, employment, and parenting needs.
  • Model respectful communication and create a supportive living environment.
  • Lead evening house meetings to encourage teamwork, accountability, and shared responsibilities.
  • Coordinate transportation and accompany residents to appointments or court hearings as needed.
  • Maintain case notes, documentation, and follow-up contacts in compliance with program and funder requirements.
  • Respond to crisis hotline calls and provide on-call coverage as scheduled.
  • Ensure shelter maintenance, cleanliness, and compliance with PCADV and safety standards.
  • Support public awareness and community events related to domestic violence, sexual assault, and homelessness.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
  • Two years of experience in social services or volunteer experience in a domestic violence/sexual assault program preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable vehicle with current registration, inspection, and insurance.
  • Must obtain required background clearances (State Police, Child Abuse, and FBI).
  • Successful completion of the Victims’ Resource Center’s Counselor/Advocate Training (provided upon hire).
  • Strong communication, organization, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under changing conditions.
  • Demonstrated commitment to empowerment and the elimination of violence.
  • Understanding and agreement with the YWCA mission and values.
