Duties
- Greet patients warmly and assist with their optical needs, including frame selection and lens options
- Conduct preliminary assessments such as measuring vital signs and recording medical history
- Support the clinical team with ophthalmology procedures, including basic testing and laboratory tasks
- Maintain accurate medical records using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems like Epic and other EMR platforms
- Educate patients on eye health, proper contact lens care, and available optical products
- Manage retail sales of eyewear and accessories, applying retail math principles to ensure inventory accuracy and sales targets are met
- Follow HIPAA guidelines strictly to protect patient confidentiality and ensure compliance with privacy regulations
Qualifications
- Prior experience or knowledge in ophthalmology or optometry is highly desirable
- Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and medical coding enhances your effectiveness in this role
- Experience working with EMR systems such as Epic or similar platforms is preferred
- Strong understanding of vital signs measurement, aseptic techniques, and laboratory procedures related to eye care
- Retail management or sales experience, especially within optical or healthcare settings, is a plus
