Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and friendly Cashier job to join our team. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for customers, providing exceptional service while efficiently handling transactions. Duties
- Operate the cash register (POS system) accurately during retail sales transactions, ensuring correct cash handling and balancing the cash drawer at shift end
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting shoppers, answering questions, and assisting with product information and store layout
- Conduct product demos when applicable to showcase features and benefits of merchandise, encouraging additional purchases
- Stock shelves, organize merchandise, and assist with merchandising displays to maintain an attractive store environment
- Handle phone inquiries professionally, practicing proper phone etiquette to support customer needs and store operations
- Adhere to all store policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Experience
- Previous experience in retail sales or cashiering is preferred, especially within grocery stores or similar environments
- Familiarity with POS systems and cash register operations is essential for smooth transaction processing
- Supervising experience is a plus, demonstrating leadership skills in overseeing team members or training new staff
- Bilingual abilities are highly valued to serve diverse customer bases effectively
- Strong communication skills are necessary for engaging with customers confidently and clearly
- Basic math skills are required for handling cash transactions accurately and performing retail math calculations
- Experience with merchandising, product demos, and upselling techniques will help maximize sales potential
