About this Position
The Category Manager will serve as a trusted business partner to assigned category groups within the Global Sourcing & Procurement (GS&P) organization. This role involves collaborating on the development and execution of sourcing events, implementing negotiation strategies, and applying best-in-class sourcing processes. The Category Manager will provide guidance on the end-to-end sourcing process while driving strategy, cost improvement, and building strong cross-functional relationships.
Job Responsibilities
- Support Senior Category Managers in the execution of regional and global sourcing events, including sourcing administration and event support, while independently leading assigned projects.
- Assist in the development of complex regional and global sourcing strategies across categories such as Loss Prevention, Facilities, Waste, Supply Chain, Fixtures, Construction, Engineering, Supplies, Energy, HR, and Marketing.
- Lead cross-functional teams in the execution of strategic sourcing initiatives and implementation of category strategies.
- Collaborate with business partners to deliver value, maintain service quality, and manage senior-level business partner relationships.
- Develop negotiation strategies and conduct negotiations to achieve cost savings and alignment with business goals.
- Participate in the creation and execution of contracts while ensuring compliance with audit and approval requirements.
- Contribute to global category management teams, strengthening partnerships with peers worldwide.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, demand management, and specification alignment.
- Support supplier relationship management programs and ensure compliant “Source-to-Pay” processes in partnership with Procurement Operations.
- Monitor and report on category-specific performance metrics and savings.
- Analyze current product or service requirements, market trends, and supplier performance to propose innovative sourcing strategies.
Job Skills/Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Strong knowledge of sourcing and procurement with experience across one or more categories such as Loss Prevention, Facilities, Supply Chain, Construction, or Marketing.
- Minimum 5 years of strategic sourcing or procurement experience; managerial experience a plus.
- Strong business acumen and project management skills.
- Proficiency in procurement/sourcing systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to analyze data related to spend, supplier performance, and market trends to identify opportunities.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with strong presentation abilities.
- Experience working with senior leaders, multinational business partners, and suppliers.
- Strong organizational, training, and development skills.
- Retail industry experience preferred.
Pay Range: $50-$60/hour
