What are the responsibilities and job description for the Aircraft Painter position at Yulista Management Services?
PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Aircraft Painter performs direct labor for depot on-site paint and de-paint operations at Robins Air Base, Georgia. The Aircraft Painter performs all duties associated with treatment, preparation, priming, painting and marking of aircraft to primarily include C-5, C-17, C-130, and F-15 weapon systems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Perform all preparatory work (obtain supplies and equipment, set up ladders and scaffolds, and cover items with drop cloths and tape)
- Prepare surfaces by mechanical means, i.e. scraping, wire brushing, masking, spackling, and sanding surfaces
- Clean, degrease, and remove oil, wax buildup, scale, dirt, and old paint from surfaces so coating materials adhere properly
- Mix, thin, blend, match, tint, and tone coating materials following specific written directives and specification
- Apply coating materials such as primer, paint, varnish, and shellac using standard application techniques and ensure the coating finish meets surface protection requirements in accordance with Work Control Documents (“WCD”)
- Perform fluid flushing and air vacuum cleaning of aircraft fuel tanks in accordance with Work Control Documents (“WCD”)
- Remove fuel tank braces for access to hard to reach areas
- Remove anti-leak sealant and polyurethane paint material from fuel tank inner surfaces
- Assist mechanics with cleaning of aircraft parts using solvents and other cleaning solutions
- Conduct any and all Safety Checks and Requirements (Proper Protective Equipment, Proper de-contamination procedures, etc.…)
- Perform general housekeeping duties as required and when requested
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by supervisor
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position has no supervisor responsibilities.

- Knowledge of computer applications software.
- Can identify and communicate risks and provide mitigation strategies.
- Ability to enter data accurately into databases.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Interpersonal skills are necessary to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff.
- Ability to use general office equipment such as phone, copier, scanner, printers, etc.
- Ability to follow a process.
- Strong professional customer service skills, including active listening, prompt service and follow-up.
- Strong decision analysis and problem-solving skills; ability to draw conclusions and justify decisions.
- Must be able to communicate issues to management.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical computations.
- High degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently.
- Ability to multi-task.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two-years of hands-on experience performing duties associated with commercial aircraft painting or military aircraft painting
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Basic Computer Skills; Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Internet Explorer
- Possess a valid state driver’s license
- Complete and pass (i) Occupational Physical examinations, (ii) Annual Respirator Fit Test, (iii) Airfield Driving Course
- Overtime is required
- Must be able to obtain a Secret security clearance
