Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced, responsible, and customer-focused Liquor Store Manager to oversee the daily operations of our liquor store. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, retail experience (preferably in the alcohol industry), and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service while ensuring compliance with all state and local liquor laws.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations Management:
- Oversee the daily operations of the store, including opening and closing procedures.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe store conditions.
- Ensure proper inventory levels and manage stock rotation to reduce shrinkage and expired items.
Staff Management:
- Hire, train, schedule, and supervise store staff.
- Provide coaching and performance feedback to employees.
- Ensure staff compliance with alcohol laws, including ID checks and refusal of service protocols.
Customer Service:
- Deliver outstanding customer service and resolve customer complaints effectively.
- Educate customers on products, promotions, and responsible alcohol consumption.
Sales & Merchandising:
- Monitor sales and develop strategies to increase revenue.
- Ensure attractive, legal, and compliant product displays.
- Implement promotional campaigns and in-store tastings (if permitted).
Compliance & Safety:
- Enforce strict compliance with all federal, state, and local laws regarding the sale of alcohol.
- Maintain records for inspections and licensing.
- Train staff on proper procedures for handling alcohol and dealing with intoxicated customers.
Administrative Duties:
- Conduct regular inventory counts and manage ordering from distributors.
- Handle cash flow, bank deposits, and daily financial reconciliations.
- Generate sales reports and track store performance metrics.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 1–3 years of retail management experience (liquor retail experience highly preferred).
- Strong understanding of local/state alcohol laws and compliance.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift and move cases of alcohol (up to 40 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
- Basic knowledge of POS systems, inventory software, and Microsoft Office.
Working Conditions:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- May require occasional travel for vendor meetings, training, or compliance events.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
