Job Description:BASIC FUNCTION:
Develop and deliver instructional lectures for Agriculture courses up to 10 hours/week
Organize and teach all levels of Welding classes
Use appropriate teaching methods to facilitate student learning;
Teach day, evening, and/or weekend teaching assignments, which may include distance learning (interactive television, online) and accelerated courses;
Assess Student Learning Outcomes every semester;
Participate in department, division, and college-wide initiatives and committees if desired
Essential Duties Summary:REQUIRED DUTIES:
Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Required Qualifications:MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The minimum qualifications for disciplines on this list are any bachelor's degree or higher and two years of professional experience, or any associate degree and six years of professional experience.
Any associates degree and six years of experience OR
Any bachelor's degree and two years of experience OR
The equivalent OR
Possess a California Community College life credential in the subject matter area
Professional experience is required when the applicant possesses a master's degree. The professional experience required must be directly related to the faculty member's teaching assignment.
OR the equivalent.
Desired/Preferred Qualifications:
EXPERIENCE/DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to applicants with:
Previous teaching, employment, or student experiences that provide the candidate with the ability to successfully teach courses in welding or manufacturing
Professional welding certification
ASE certification or experience in other areas of automotive repair
Experience working in an auto body repair, painting or refinishing shop
Experience supervising and/or working with a diverse population
Qualifications to work in other departments such as hydraulics, automotive technician, auto body repair, or agriculture
Background in the use of technology in the classroom/laboratory
Welding Inspector certification
Experience in metal fabrication
Preference may be given to candidates with life or teaching which would demonstrate the clear ability to teach Welding to community college students.
