To learn more about our innovative school visit our websitewww.yumingschool.org.RESPONSIBILITIESTeach 3 50-minute English blocks to one grade-level and 1 1-hour intervention block each dayTeach Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) lessons and facilitate self directed learning (SDL) timeImplement Common Core State Standards-aligned and Science of Reading-aligned curriculum and lessons that build and integrate rigorous and student-centered learning experiences in English in partnership with Mandarin Chinese co-teacher leading other subjects (i.e. Chinese language arts, mathematics, social science, science)Personalize learning by teaching effectively to the diversity of students in the classroom and ensuring student mastery of academic skillsAssess and analyze student achievement using a variety of means to collect and report on data, make strategic planning decisions, and tailor instruction to meet individual student needsUse educational technology to support instruction, develop and deliver content and skill benchmarks, organize instructional materials, and track student progressEstablish a strong classroom culture for learning that is positive, inclusive, restorative, and contributes to the broader school communityProvide access and ensure results for all students (i.e. above and below grade level proficiency, with IEPs, English Learners) and integrate needed differentiation, interventions, accommodations, and extensionsActively collaborate with all colleagues, contribute pedagogical knowledge and expertise, and provide shared stewardship of the schoolPlan and pursue a program of personal professional growth and participate in both internal and external professional development activitiesBuild meaningful relationships and communicate effectively with students, families, colleagues, and other school stakeholdersMaintain a high-level of professionalism including meeting deadlines and commitments to self and the communityMay participate in summer program teaching or professional learning or curriculum developmentQUALIFICATIONSRequiredB.A. or B.S.Appropriate California Credential (or transferable out of state equivalency)PreferredM.A. or M.S. in Education or Subject AreaThree years experience teaching in relevant grade(s) or subjectExperience with Google apps and other educational technologyExperience with one or more of the following: project-based learning, social-emotional learning, personalized learning, service learning, interdisciplinary curriculumUnderstanding of the Common Core State StandardsSuperb interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of students, colleagues and familiesFlexibility and adaptability to change; ability to work in a dynamic, creative and start-up learning environmentDriven adult learner dedicated to his or her own professional growth, including learning new and innovative teaching practicesMaturity, humility, strong work ethic, sense of humor, and a solutions-oriented attitudeTIME COMMITMENT185-day school year, 8 student-free professional development days for collaboration with colleagues.
