What are the responsibilities and job description for the Full-Time Customer Services Clerk II position at Ypsilanti District Library?
NATURE OF WORK:
Customer Service duties as assigned by the Customer Services Coordinator. Typical duties may include, but are not limited to:
· Providing direct customer assistance to library patrons by checking library materials in and out, collecting payments, issuing library cards, etc.
· Greeting visitors, explaining library services and procedures, and assisting patrons with self-check, printing, copying, scanning, faxing, and use of other library equipment
· Answering and directing incoming telephone calls
· Processing patron holds and interlibrary loan materials
· Handling cash register transactions and deposits with accuracy
MUST BE ABLE TO WORK THE FOLLOWING SCHEDULE:
Mondays | 12:30-9pm Tuesdays | 8:30am-5pm Wednesdays | 12:30-9pm Thursdays | 8:30am-5pm Alternating Fridays/Saturdays | 9:30am-6pm One Sunday per month | 12:30-5pm
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma
- Pleasant, service-oriented demeanor
- Familiarity with computers
- Experience working with diverse populations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including active listening
- Ability to function in a professional manner, work independently, and use good judgment
- Ability to successfully resolve issues with library patron accounts/behavior
- Ability to enforce library policies equitably
- Flexible and dependable
- Good attention to detail
- Enthusiastic, positive team player
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Public library experience preferred
HOURS: Full-time, 40 hours per week (including regularly scheduled evenings and weekends).
