This role is responsible for designing and leading the enterprise data architecture strategy across both integrations and analytics platforms.
Here’s What We Need From You
- 10 years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or related roles
- Deep expertise in Snowflake, SQL Server, and NoSQL databases, as well as modern data transformation and orchestration frameworks such as DBT and advanced data pipelines
- Strong experience with DBT and data pipeline orchestration (e.G., Dagster, Airflow, or similar)
- Demonstrated ability to optimize Snowflake for cost and performance in production environments
- Deep understanding of data modeling (3NF, Star Schema, cDISC standards)
- Own the end-to-end data architecture strategy, covering integrations, data warehousing, analytics, and operational data flows.
- Define and enforce best practices for data modeling, governance, lineage, and metadata management.
- Lead the transition from legacy SQL Server workloads to Snowflake and cloud-first solutions.
- Provide architectural oversight for NoSQL use cases (e.g., MongoDB, Cosmos DB) to support unstructured and semi-structured data needs.
- Architect robust ETL/ELT pipelines leveraging modern orchestration tools and DBT for transformation consistency.
- Guide the design of real-time and batch integrations between operational systems, external partners, and sponsor-facing analytics.
- Ensure pipelines meet performance, resiliency, and compliance requirements for clinical trial data.
- Design and implement cost-efficient Snowflake solutions, including:
- Optimal warehouse sizing and scaling.
- Storage optimization (micro-partitioning, clustering, pruning).
- Performance tuning (query optimization, caching, result sets).
- Partner with Finance and Engineering to monitor and forecast Snowflake spend.
- Establish cost guardrails and automated monitoring for Snowflake usage.
- Act as the subject matter expert on all data architecture decisions.
- Mentor data engineers, analysts, and developers in data design and DBT best practices.
- Collaborate with product managers and clinical data SMEs to align data design with business goals.
- Represent the Data Architecture function in governance, compliance, and sponsor-facing initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, a related field, or an equivalent amount of related professional experience
- Experience working with Greenhouse Applicant Tracking System – or a closely related tool
- Experience working with UKG or a similar HRIS system
