We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as an Outreach Worker for our Street Outreach Program at Youth Shelters and Family Services in Santa Fe, NM. In this role, you will engage with youth in the community, offering crucial support, resources, and guidance to help them navigate challenging circumstances and work towards a brighter future.
The Street Outreach Program is seeking an individual to provide support and access to services for homeless, runaway and high-risk youth both in the resource center and on the street. Will network with community resources to facilitate provision of client services and solicitation of donations.
Must have strong experience providing case management and experience working with street youth. Excellent time management and organizational skills, with strong written, verbal and computer skills needed. Must be able to work non-traditional hours, have a clear driving record with current auto insurance, and be over the age to 22 to be insurable to transport clients. This position will be working 3 days in Rio Rancho and 2 days in Santa Fe.

Program-Specific Responsibilities
- Conduct client assessments, develop and implement case plans, and regularly review client progress.
- Facilitate life skills education, leadership development, and group activities designed to help clients achieve their personal goals.
- Support clients in addressing housing needs by connecting them to appropriate community resources.
- Maintain accurate and complete client case files in accordance with program standards and provide oversight for file documentation procedures.
- Collect and compile information and data required for reporting and contractual compliance.
- Serve as a liaison to external partners and community resources in support of client case management.
- Coordinate and document the receipt of food donations and other supplies, including pickups as needed.
- Assist in the upkeep of the Resource Center through participation in daily chores and maintenance of the facility and surrounding grounds.
- Oversee maintenance and upkeep of program equipment, vehicles, and facility records.
- Support the supervision and coordination of volunteers and interns.
- Provide street outreach services as needed to connect with and support youth in the community.
- Perform additional duties* as assigned by the supervisor.
Position Requirements Education & Related Work Experience
- Two years degree in human services or related field and at least one-year relatable experience.
OR a high school diploma or GED and at least two years related experience.
Skills and Knowledge
- The candidate must be able to develop strong working relationships with client population, be able to relate to individuals making significant life decisions and be supportive of individuals’ increasing independence.
- Computer software skills including Microsoft Windows, Excel, and Word
- Excellent communication skills, particularly listening, mediation, and writing skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with good spelling, grammar, and punctuation
- Initiative, creativity, reliability, flexibility, thoroughness
- Excellent crisis intervention skills
- Appreciation of realities and challenges experienced by homeless and at-risk youth and knowledge of community resources.
- Experience with homeless and at-risk youth, preferred
- Valid Driver’s License, insurable under YSFS automobile policy.
- Must be over 21 years of age to meet the minimum eligibility requirements of our automobile insurance carrier.
Preferred
- Bilingual in Spanish and English.
Condition of Employment
- Must be able to pass comprehensive criminal, sexual offender, MVD background checks.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, and maintain state required automobile insurance minimums.
