POSITION SUMMARY
The Residential Director reports to the Chief Operations Officer and oversees operations of assigned residential programs. Ensures youth receive all appropriate medical, educational, and treatment services. Responsibilities include supervision, discipline and training of all assigned staff, monitoring program implementation, helping to monitor budget and census levels, overseeing the facilities and monitoring maintenance issues. Works with Clinical Directors and clinical staff to provide quality treatment services for the residents. This position will also help to meet the needs of the YOC’s primary customers: the residents, family, courts, Juvenile Probation Department, Department of Child Services, and the schools. Leadership skills are required, as the Residential Director must be able to recognize issues/concerns and provide appropriate accountability and follow up for team members. Knowledge of YOC programs, YOC policies and procedures, contract requirements, DCS service standards, accreditation standards, and standards set forth by other governing agencies is essential.

PRIMARY JOB EXPECTATIONS
  • Builds and maintains a positive team environment (within individual departments and inter-departmentally)
  • Provides guidance, support, and direction through individual and group supervision as well as team meetings.
  • Ensures accountability to staff through supervisions, evaluations, and necessary disciplinary action.
  • Helps to identify and implement needed trainings to aid in professional development of assigned departments.
  • Maintains a physical presence in designated programs. Engages in program/campus activities, interacting with staff and residents and participating in events.
  • Provides administrative and operational oversight to the residential program chain.
  • Collaborates with the CCO and Clinical Directors to assess programs and makes recommendations for improvements
  • Monitors adherence to policies and procedures, master contract requirements, and all governing regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Ensures quality programming and compliance with best practice service standards
  • Works with designated Directors and Senior Management Team to seek resolution when problems arise
  • Ensures proper internal and external communication and assists with any customer service issues.
  • Maintains awareness of and adherence to budgetary items (FTE’s, Overtime, Department budgets, etc.)
  • Maintains supportive and cooperative relationships with fellow Directors
  • Assists with the short-term planning process for assigned programs/departments.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE NEEDED
  • Master’s degree from an accredited university with connected knowledge in social services
  • 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience leading teams and facilitating trainings is required.

  • Ability to communicate clearly with a wide range of people including a variety of internal and external constituents
  • Able to identify problems and resolve them in a timely and appropriate manner
  • Must be able to prioritize and plan work to maximize efficiency
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Residential Director will supervise Program Managers, Shift Supervisors, and designated support staff.

WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Typical work week is Monday-Friday 40 hours; this position does assume on call responsibilities.
  • The Residential Director will have regular contact with the YOC direct care staff, program/clinical staff members, members of office administration, and YOC executive staff members.
  • Direct contact with state agencies, accrediting bodies, and customers by phone and in person is a function of this position.
  • Courtesy and professionalism are expected at all times.

This position is full-time, and compensation includes a competitive salary and benefits plan.
