Job Title: Grant Writer
Reports To: Executive Director
FLSA Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Work Schedule: 20-29 hours a week; As needed
Salary: $30 an hour
Youth Guidance is seeking a detail-oriented and mission-driven Part-Time Grant Writer to support the organization’s fundraising efforts. The Grant Writer will be responsible for researching funding opportunities, preparing compelling grant proposals, managing application deadlines, and assisting with grant reporting requirements.
This position plays a key role in sustaining and expanding Youth Guidance programs by securing funding from foundations, corporations, and government sources.
Key Responsibilities
Grant Research & Prospecting
- Identify and research new grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government agencies that align with Youth Guidance’s mission and programs.
- Maintain and update a grant prospect pipeline and funding calendar.
- Monitor upcoming deadlines and eligibility requirements.
Grant Writing & Application Development
- Write, edit, and submit high-quality grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and applications.
- Collaborate with leadership and program staff to gather program data, budgets, and impact stories for proposals.
- Tailor proposals to specific funder priorities and guidelines.
- Ensure all submissions are completed accurately and on time.
Grant Management & Reporting
- Track grant awards, deadlines, and reporting requirements.
- Prepare interim and final grant reports in collaboration with program staff.
- Maintain organized records of submissions, awards, and funder communications.
Strategic Funding Support
- Help identify new funding strategies and grant opportunities to support program expansion.
- Assist in developing compelling narratives about Youth Guidance’s impact.
- Support the development team with grant-related fundraising materials when needed.

Grant Writer Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, nonprofit management, English, public administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 2 years of grant writing experience, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
- Demonstrated success securing foundation, corporate, or government grants.
- Strong research, writing, and editing skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
Grant Writer Preferred Experience:
- Experience writing grants related to education, youth development, workforce training, or apprenticeship programs.
- Familiarity with nonprofit grant databases and research tools
- Experience with grant reporting and outcome measurement.
Pay: From $30.00 per hour
