The YCS Parents as Teacher’s program provides free and voluntary home-visitation program for families from pregnancy up to and including age five. Specially trained, certified Parent Educators work with participating mothers, fathers, and caregivers to enhance child health, growth and development, and school readiness. The program is currently seeking a Parent Educator.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- The Parent Educator (PE) will provide in-home support, information, and case management to new caregivers and expectant caregivers with young children, including babies, toddlers, and preschoolersThe PE is responsible for maintaining a regular and long-term relationship with the family.
- The service delivery and interventions should be culturally competent, family-centered and strength-based.
- Engage and establish a trusting relationship with all client populations.
- Assist in strengthening the parent-child relationship.
- Assist parents in improving their skills to optimize the home environment and parenting practices that promote the optimal development of children.
- Assess the family’s need, and assist in increasing the family support system and increase the family’s ability to problem solve and assume the role of advocating for themselves and their children.
- Identify and refer to other supportive agencies, including healthcare appointments.
- Coordinate and assist with coordination of program events for participating families.
- Participate in ongoing, reflective individual supervision to grow self-reflection and self awareness skills as they impact service delivery and the promotion of well-being of the target child(ren), and the children in the home.
- Supervision of assigned clients where and when applicable (dependent on program requirements)
- Adheres to supervision policy concerning room checks, time out, alerts, midnight shift, etc
- Adheres to state and agency mandated staff to client ratios (dependent on program requirements
Job Requirements:
- Valid Driver’s License\
- Ability to travel to client homes throughout Hudson County
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required
- Bachelor’s degree in early childhood or related field (preferred)
- Two years’ of previous supervised work experience with young children and parents
