What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intern Opportunity - Qualified Mental Health Professional position at Youth Advocate Programs, Inc.?
Status: Part-Time Hourly FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt
Summary of the Position: Bachelor’s or Master’s Level Internship available. Either role in under our behavioral health services and determination for which you will fulfill is dependent on the program’s need at that time and your general service region. Preference can be considered.
- The Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) is responsible for providing targeted case management and rehabilitative services to youth with serious emotional disturbances and their families.
- Services may be provided in the participant’s home or appropriate community setting.
- The QMHP will deliver case management and skills-based interventions targeted at increasing the youth’s natural supports and strengths, fostering resilience and recovery.
- The QMHP is responsible for accurately documenting services, and communicating participant progress to supervisors, team members, and the referring authority.
- All services are delivered in compliance with the Texas Medicaid Provider Procedures Manual, the Texas Resilience and Recovery Utilization Management Guidelines, YAP Standards and all state and federal regulations governing the devilry of service.
- Office is in Houston, TX. However, primary internship responsibilities are in the community and not in the office.
- Services are primarily in person although telehealth can be provided.
- Interns must have a bachelor’s degree in human services field. If final field, must be extended placement.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Must have a bachelor’s degree in human services field, i.e., Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, Sociology, etc.
- Prior experience in community work and knowledge of community resources.
- Experience working with at-risk youth
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Basic Computer Skills
- CPR/First Aid Certification is a plus
- Must be comfortable with home visits and have reliable transportation.
- Bilingual/Spanish Speaking is a plus
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and current auto insurance coverage is required.
