What are the responsibilities and job description for the Advocate position at Youth Advocate Programs, Inc.?
Status: Part Time Hourly FLSA classification: Non-Exempt
Summary of the Position: Hourly, Part-Time positions working with youth and families are available in Mercer County.
- Serve as a positive role model for youth by demonstrating dependability, commitment, and professionalism in interactions.
- Initiate, organize, coordinate, and implement advocacy services for assigned participants and their families.
- Develop and implement individualized service plans based on strengths-based, wrap-around approach
- Foster meaningful relationships with participants to support growth, goals, and success across home, school, and community settings
- Provide truancy advocacy and support services to help youth and families to address challenges, increase school engagement, and have positive educational outcomes.
- Community-based work
- Connect participants and families with community resources and supports that promote stability and independence.
- This position offers flexible hours, competitive weekly pay, and activity reimbursement.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Experience in community work and knowledge of community resources.
- Must be extremely organized
- Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in computer skills and Microsoft Office are preferred.
- Must be professional, flexible, and have the ability to work independently
- Must be available evenings and weekends (Flexible, Non-Traditional Hours)
- Position requires reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and current automobile insurance coverage.
- Bilingual/Spanish speaking is a plus.
