Role Description The Litigation Attorney will handle family law matters from initial client meeting through resolution, including drafting pleadings, motions, and other court filings. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing case strategy, conducting legal research, preparing clients for hearings and depositions, negotiating settlements, and representing clients in court proceedings and trials. The attorney will collaborate with team members to ensure high-quality, efficient service within a fixed-fee framework and maintain clear, empathetic communication with clients. This is a full-time, hybrid role based in Lansing, MI, with a combination of in-office work and some work-from-home flexibility.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in family Law, including divorce, custody, support, and related matters.
- Experience drafting and arguing Motions and other litigation-related filings in family law cases.
- Background working with Courts, including scheduling, procedures, and courtroom advocacy.
- Trial-ready skills, including case preparation, presentation of evidence, and management of Trials.
- Experience conducting Depositions, including witness preparation and effective questioning.
- Active license to practice law in Michigan (or eligibility for prompt admission).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly.
- Strong client counseling skills, including empathy, professionalism, and discretion.
- Ability to manage multiple cases, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a hybrid environment.
- Prior family law litigation experience preferred.
