Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Journeyman/Journeywoman Lineman to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical power systems, including overhead and underground lines. This role requires a strong understanding of high voltage and low voltage systems, as well as proficiency in various electrical and construction techniques. The Journeyman/Journeywoman Lineman will work on diverse projects, ensuring safety, reliability, and compliance with industry standards such as NEC. This position offers opportunities to work in field service environments, including tree trimming, utility locating, and construction site operations, utilizing skills in blueprint reading, cabling, welding, and bucket operation.
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair overhead and underground electrical distribution systems using bucket trucks and climbing techniques.
- Perform rigging and cabling tasks to ensure safe and efficient system setup.
- Conduct high voltage and low voltage troubleshooting using tools such as ohmmeters and other testing equipment.
- Operate bucket trucks safely for elevated work while adhering to safety protocols.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to execute projects accurately.
- Engage in field service activities including utility locating, tree trimming near power lines, and construction site work.
- Assist with welding tasks when necessary to secure electrical components or structures.
- Follow NEC standards and industry best practices to ensure safe working conditions.
- Collaborate with team members on complex projects involving IT infrastructure integration or other specialized electrical systems.
- Maintain detailed records of work performed, inspections completed, and safety checks conducted.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Journeyman/Journeywoman Lineman or similar role with a strong background in electrical systems installation and maintenance.
- Demonstrated skills in rigging, cabling, welding, bucket operation, climbing, and bucket truck operation.
- Knowledge of high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) electrical systems along with NEC standards.
- Experience working on construction sites with exposure to utility locating and tree trimming activities.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately.
- Familiarity with field service procedures related to utility infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency with testing tools such as ohmmeters for troubleshooting electrical issues.
- Strong safety awareness with the ability to adhere to all safety protocols at all times.
- Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred but not required.
- Physical ability to perform demanding tasks including climbing poles or structures, lifting heavy equipment or materials, and working in various weather conditions. This position is essential for maintaining reliable electrical services while ensuring safety standards are met across all operations.
