Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Operations Supervisor to oversee the daily field operations of our self-service auto salvage yard and scrap recycling facility. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who enjoys working outdoors, leading people, solving problems, and improving operations.
The Operations Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant operation of our facility while leading a team in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Essential Job Duties:
- Oversee daily yard operations for both the self-service salvage yard and scrap processing areas.
- Ensure all vehicles are properly depolluted in accordance with company procedures and environmental regulations, including the removal and handling of fuels, oils, coolants, refrigerants, batteries, and other fluids.
- Supervise the movement of vehicles throughout the yard, including pulling expired vehicles from rows and placing fresh inventory efficiently and safely.
- Operate heavy equipment, including car crushers, loaders, excavators, forklifts, and material handlers.
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture through training, coaching, and accountability.
- Supervise employees by providing direction, scheduling work, monitoring performance, and maintaining productivity.
- Participate in hiring, training, coaching, disciplinary actions, and employee development.
- Monitor operational efficiency and identify opportunities to improve productivity, organization, and workflow.
- Assist with inventory movement, scrap processing, and loading/unloading bulk materials.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional facility.
Qualifications:
- Previous supervisory experience in an industrial, recycling, automotive, manufacturing, or similar environment.
- Experience operating heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand vehicle systems and equipment operation.
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Working knowledge of workplace safety practices and environmental compliance.
- Experience with employee supervision, scheduling, hiring, coaching, and performance management.
- Ability to work outdoors year-round in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to prioritize work, adapt to changing conditions, and lead by example.
