The fabrication supervisor is a working position. This role requires leadership skills to supervise a team of workers in the fabrication department, in addition to being on the floor welding, reading prints, directing job duties and performing labor duties with the crew.

- Assign work to department personnel to attain department objectives using knowledge of production processes, company policies, production schedules, work orders, equipment capacity and employee capabilities.
- Readily perceive and effectively respond to schedules and product flows essential to supervising highly productive, cost effective, quality-oriented manufacturing operations.
- Establish and control procedures to meet production schedules.
- Recommend and initiate improvements to production processes to increase manufacturing efficiency.
- Establish and control procedures to ensure production of conforming fabricated assembly components.
- Identify risks including potential bottlenecks and capacity constraints.
- Monitor and control established procedures to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Establish and monitor cost control systems to achieve department budget objectives.
- Responsible for compliance with safety and housekeeping requirements.
- Provide training, support, direction, and guidance to department personnel to continually develop their work habits, job skills, and safety practices.
- Evaluate employee performance and accountability.
- Recommend and administer personnel actions in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Ensure all jobs are 100% ready before release to production (drawings complete, material available)
- Manage change orders and communicate impacts on cost and schedule.
- Serve as primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle
- Set department goals and develop outline for achievement.
- Work overtime as requested.
- Meet a minimum of 95% on time delivery through effective scheduling, organization, inventory control and efficiently producing quality parts right the first time made.
- Work with Sales (inside and outside) and production coordinator to maximize daily sales.
- Work to resolve customer complaints and provide customer service.
- Prepare reports that are needed.
- Supervisory experience in supervision in a manufacturing environment of 3 years.
- Computer literate with experience using email and word processing applications (Microsoft Office, Excel)
- Ability to learn and understand software and complete transactions pertaining to fabrication or welding operations, excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Read, interpret and understand blueprints and weld processes.
- Ability to understand and apply workplace safety procedures.
- Proficient in structural/vessel fitting. Mig/Flux core/Tig, manual presses, shears, and similar equipment.
- Ability to lift 40 pounds.
- Ability to stand, sit, bend, reach, kneel, twist, pull, push, grip and climb.
