Rig Safety Specialist / HSE Representative (Oil & Gas) – Temporary, 3–6 Months (or longer)

Youngquist Brothers, Inc. (YBI) is a Florida-based specialty drilling contractor. We are preparing a rig to drill a large diameter well located in Parsons, Kansas. We are looking for an experienced oil and gas safety professional that can work with us to prepare for the possibility of gas being present. When the rig is moved to the job site the safety man will go to Kansas and help ensure everything is compliant and all safety measures are being taken.The Assignment
- Duration: 3-6 months, depending on project progress and future projects
- Weeks 1-4: Fort Myers, FL. You’ll spend the first month with us in Florida learning how YBI operates: our safety program, procedures, equipment, and people. Travel and lodging are covered.
- Remainder: Parsons, KS. You’ll be on site at the rig as our dedicated safety lead for the rest of the project.
- Housing provided while on the job.
What You’ll Do
- Run and enforce the site safety program on an active rig, per OSHA and industry standards
- Oversee safety through rig-up, drilling operations, and rig-down
- Conduct daily inspections, JSAs/JHAs, and pre-job and tailgate safety meetings
- Hold stop-work authority and use it when conditions are unsafe
- Investigate incidents and near-misses, and complete reports and corrective actions
- Verify crew training, certifications, PPE, and equipment inspections
- Maintain safety documentation and report directly to YBI management
Requirements
- Proven HSE or safety experience on oil and gas drilling rigs
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, well control awareness, H2S, fall protection, and lockout/tagout
- Willingness to relocate temporarily and work at a remote rig site
- Retired Oil & Gas Safety person will be considered
