What are the responsibilities and job description for the Healthy Living Director position at YOUNG MENS CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION?
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Healthy Living Director oversees the development and operations of high quality wellness programs at the Northwest Family YMCA and Ballentine YMCA to ensure innovative, member-focused programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Directs and supervises the Northwest and Ballentine YMCA's healthy living program activities. Establishes new health and wellness program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
- Hires, trains and supervises assigned staff, which may include wellness floor staff, group exercise instructors and personal trainers. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Teaches and certifies staff in Red Cross CPR, AED, First Aid, and Oxygen. Ensures compliance with necessary certifications for all staff to include recognized fitness certifications.
- Maintains equipment and facilities. Purchases equipment, parts and supplies as required. Coordinates and schedules equipment maintenance and repairs. Keeps all wellness areas clean and sanitary.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information, may organize and schedule program registrations.
- Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
- Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. Serves on the Healthy Living Quality Team, working with other Directors in the Association.
- Monitors daily operations to adhere to all YMCA health and safety standards and policies.
- Leads the branch’s Race Series events and Community Wellness Days (blood drive, food drive, vaccine drive, mammogram screening).
- Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and other special events.
- Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner. Actively engages with members to build relationships and enhance the member / guest experience for retention and satisfaction.
- Serves as a YMCA Ambassador in the community, representing the mission and values of the YMCA at public events and with key stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Recreation Management, Health Promotion, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of three (3) years of progressive leadership experience in membership, health and wellness, or related fields. YMCA experience preferred.
- Demonstrated success in staff supervision, member engagement, and program development.
- Strong financial management skills, including budgeting and revenue generation.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and build positive community relationships.
- Must complete within 30 days of hire: Child Abuse Prevention, Bloodborne Pathogens, and Employee Sexual Harassment training.
- Must complete within 60 days of hire: CPR, First Aid, AED, and Oxygen certification.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evening and weekends, as required by branch operations.
- Maintain valid Personal Training and Group Exercise certifications (Yoga, Zumba, Les Mills, Pilates).

Salary : $42,000 - $47,000
