POSITION SUMMARY:
The Gym Monitor is responsible for ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for participants using the basketball gym facilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Monitor the basketball gym during open play and organized activities to ensure compliance with YMCA policies and safety guidelines. Maintain a clean and orderly environment, including equipment setup and storage.
- Provide assistance and support to gym participants, including answering questions, enforcing rules, and resolving conflicts or disputes as needed. Address concerns and feedback from participants in a professional and courteous manner.
- Inspect and maintain basketball equipment, including hoops, balls, and other accessories. Report any maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate staff member to ensure the safety and functionality of equipment.
- Be prepared to respond to medical emergencies or injuries that may occur in the gym. Administer basic first aid as needed and contact emergency services if necessary. Ensure that appropriate safety protocols are followed at all times.
- Promote YMCA programs and services to gym participants, encouraging engagement and participation in additional activities. Distribute information about upcoming events, programs, and membership opportunities to interested individuals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum age of 18.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with people of all ages and backgrounds.
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team, with a positive and proactive attitude.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends, as needed, to accommodate gym hours and program schedules.
- Certifications required within 60 days of employment: CPR, First Aid, AED, Oxygen.
- Ability to complete the following within 30 days of hire: Child Abuse Prevention training; Bloodborne Pathogens and Sexual Harassment training.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to perform all physical requirements of the position; including walking, standing, bending, reaching and lifting up to 50 lbs. at a time.
Salary : $10 - $12
