POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Branch Executive Director, the Wellness Director
will have a lead role in supervising the Wellness Department at the Easton
Family YMCA in Easton, MD. The Wellness Director is responsible for
developing, delivering and administering programs to diverse groups of
members. The incumbent is responsible for program development and quality,
management and supervision of staff and compliance with association policies,
licensing requirements, procedures and expectations. The candidate must
ensure the safety, well-being and personal growth of staff, members and
participants.
Annual Salary: $50,000
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Incorporate and model our YMCA Christian principles of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
2. Responsible for wellness program operations: development and
marketing, schedule of activities, staff and member communications,
quality of programming and classes, staff development, licensing and
certification compliance where applicable, adherence to budget
guidelines.
3. Provide an outstanding fitness and wellness experiences to all members
by developing monthly member activity calendars, leading excellent
wellness floor services, supporting the delivery of outstanding personal
wellness training experiences and delivering excellent new member on-
boarding experiences
4. To increase member satisfaction and participation by supporting
members in reaching their wellness goals.
5. Work in a team environment and encourage open communication
regarding concerns/issues with members, co-workers and supervisors.
6. Hire, develop, motivate, schedule and retain a team of membership staff
committed to the YMCA’s mission. Support the development of the group
exercise instructors, personal trainers, wellness coaches.
7. Implement, track and report as required for grant funded programs.
8. Support the delivery of Community Health Programs (Health Kids Day, health
fairs, etc…) in cooperation with other staff on the YMCA’s leadership team.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
1. Undergraduate or Graduate Degree preferred in relevant field, e.g, exercise
science, kinesiology, nutrition, physical education
2. 2 to 4 years of experience in a leadership role in wellness/fitness service and
programming related fields.
3. At least 21 years of age
4. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse Prevention training within
30 days of hire date.
5. Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.
6. Strong leadership, organizational, communication and administrative skills
including staff supervision and development.
7. Flexible work schedule with the availability to work nights, weekends and
holidays.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of
outdoor/indoor settings. Mental and physical ability to deal with high stress
situations and work well under pressure.
Salary : $50,000
