Head Swim Coach
Position Summary:
Provides direct leadership, management, instruction and motivation for the swim team program. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere for the swim team and for YMCA.
Essential Functions:
- Builds effective, authentic relationships with athletes and parents.
- Planning, implementing, scheduling and evaluating all groups of swim team
- Prepare and lead coaching philosophy of the team through use of lesson plans and training/mentoring of assistant coaches
- Effective communication
- Responds appropriately and proactively to parent, athlete, members and staff/volunteer concerns
- Maintains records as required
- Maintain positive working relationships with fellow staff, parents, athletes and members of all ages and backgrounds.
- Provides leadership within the aquatic department
- Remains current in the field through certifications and trainings
- Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies and guidelines for the pool, aquatic areas and the Y.
- Other duties as assigned
Physical Demands:
- Ability to occasionally lift equipment and supplies up to 50 lbs
- Employee frequently is required to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, stand, walk
- Practice and Meet environment for multiple hours - loud, standing/sitting in an aquatic environment
Qualifications:
- At least 18 years of age
- Certifications: CPR/AED & First Aid,
- Must be able to instruct proper stroke techniques
- Strong communication skills - written and verbal
- 2 or more years of swim coaching experience preferred
- Passion for swimming
Salary : $15 - $20
