Job Summary:
The Camp Program Staff ensures safe, fun teachable moments and outstanding customer service are experienced by students, teachers, and chaperones attending programs at camp and participants for camps family programs and guest group retreats. The program staff lives/works at camp seasonally, during peak usage times. The Program staff must represent Camp Timbers and the YMCA of Saginaw in the surrounding community in an appropriate manner consistent with the mission of the YMCA.
Position Summary:
This position supports the work of the YMCA and Camp Timbers, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Program staff at Camp Timbers works in conjunction with and reports to the Program Director and Executive Director ensuring a successful camp experience.
Essential Functions:
- Have passion and excitement for the YMCA mission, believe in and live out the core values, and enjoy your work! (100%)
- Provide leadership with lesson preparation, set-up, facilitation, and clean-up of courses and activities
- Assist with program planning and implementation with regard to daily scheduling, special events, and evening activities
- Exhibit flexibility and adaptability in an ever-changing daily schedule.
- Assist with general facilitation and hosting responsibilities, including cleaning bathrooms, doing dishes, sweeping the floor, obtaining firewood for groups, or other functions necessary for a clean, pleasant environment and memorable experience.
- Assist with developing staff orientation programming and training logistics.
- Assist with observance of camp policies.
- Assist with maintaining a safe learning environment.
- Continually conduct a physical plant inspection each day to ensure cabins and other facilities are in good, safe, working order and report any repair needs to Property Manager
- Be responsible for conserving energy and supplies throughout the camp facility
- Document, respond and report all accidents and unusual incidents to the Camp Director.
- Perform other duties as deemed necessary by the Camp Director or Program Director to assure the overall success of the program
- Assist the Director in maintaining quality and safety controls of cabins and other camp areas as set forth by the ACA, ACCT, CHA, CIS, and the local health department
- Loyalty to camp, its management, policies, and ideals.
- Assist in planning and coordinating overall camp program in addition to assigned program area
- Assist with association-related business functions as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or as needed for the benefit of campers

Qualifications:Essential Requirements/Qualifications:
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Knowledgeable in Camps program and philosophy, and staff leadership structure
- Proven ability to supervise adults and children.
- Ability to answer questions in a positive and helpful manner
- Ability to demonstrate highcaliber and consistent customer service.
- Serve as an additional staff resource in camp
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of
