As a Resident Camp Counselor (Program Staff) 🦸🏽️🦸🏿️🦹🏻️🦸 at YMCA Camp Whittle, you'll play a pivotal role in creating a dynamic and engaging environment where every child thrives! 🌟👧👦 Your days will be filled with excitement as you lead Program Areas, participate in campfires, and be a critical role to our youth & YMCA Staff/Volunteers to ensure they have an incredible week of camp. While assisting in the care and maintenance of the specific program and related equipment, you'll be a beacon of positivity and guidance for our amazing campers! 🏹🏑🚣🧗️🚴
Must be available beginning May 31, 2026 through August 23 2026.
Mandatory staff training week is May 31-June 6.
(If you are interested in being a ropes instructor or aquatics staff you will need to be able to start on 5/24)

- Program Coordinators - Lead, facilitate program areas and supervise Program staff
- Support Staff: Food & Beverage Aids, Line Cooks, Prep-Cooks
- Housekeeping: Camp Care
Program Areas
- Adventure: Reptile Handling & Caring, Outdoor Survival Skills, Hiking & Exploring, Outdoor/ Open Fire Cooking, Fitness, Astronomy
- Aquatics: Pool and Waterfront lifeguards. Candidates must have current lifeguard certification or must obtain lifeguard certification prior or during staff training (must show very strong swimming skills and be able to demonstrate all strokes efficiently)
- Arts & Crafts: General Arts and Crafts, Drama/ Theater, Drumming/Musicians & Vocalist, Dance
- Athletics: Archery, Mountain Bikes, Team Games, Recreational Games, Hockey
- Ropes Course: Candidates should have former experience and/ or certifications in in High Ropes, Low Ropes, Teambuilding, Zip Lines, Climbing Tower, Rock Climbing
Responsibilities
- Planning and leading activities in assigned program areas.
- Some members of the program staff will also be responsible for supervising other staff members in program areas. This is a great opportunity to learn leadership skills.
- Ensuring that participants are safe and engaged in activities.
- Work with other staff members to help campers.
- Program staff members will not live in a cabin with a group of campers but will be tasked with other responsibilities and care of the camp facilities.
- Working at camp requires every staff member to cultivate a positive attitude and willingness to help in all areas of the camp experience.

Salary : $575 - $625
