Part Time/Evening Housekeeping Associate - Hogan Family YMCA

The YMCA is seeking a dependable, motivated, and detail-oriented Housekeeping Associate to help provide a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for our members, guests, and staff. This position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of YMCA facilities, supporting light maintenance needs, and ensuring all housekeeping standards are consistently met. The Housekeeping Associate works closely with the Property Director to maintain adequate housekeeping supplies, support preventative maintenance efforts, and contribute to an exceptional member experience.

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Janitorial Staff is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and general upkeep of the YMCA facility and surrounding grounds. Ensures a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for members, guests, and staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Support the YMCA's mission by fostering positive relationships with members, guests, volunteers, and staff while contributing to a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
• Respond quickly and appropriately to member concerns.
• Protect member privacy and personal belongings encountered while cleaning.
• Clean and maintain all interior and exterior areas of the facility, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, disinfecting, glass cleaning, trash removal, and restroom sanitation.
• Clean and maintain restroom dispensers as needed.
• Ensure all high-touch surfaces are routinely cleaned and disinfected in accordance with YMCA health and safety standards.
• Maintain locker rooms by cleaning, disinfecting, stocking supplies, and emptying trash a minimum of twice daily or more frequently as needed.
• Help maintain gymnasiums, fitness areas, bleachers, walls, doors, and common spaces to ensure they remain clean and presentable throughout the day.
• Clean and maintain entrance areas, including carpets, windows, walls, entry doors, and exterior walkways to create a positive first impression.
• Perform scheduled deep cleaning tasks, including power washing and scrubbing sauna, steam room, and restroom floors and walls.
• Complete light maintenance tasks such as tightening hardware, unclogging toilets, and reporting maintenance issues requiring additional attention.
• Properly dilute, store, and label chemicals, never mixing incompatible chemicals.
• Use proper Person Protective Equipment with all chemicals and cleaning equipment.
• Assist the Property Director with monitoring, ordering, and maintaining housekeeping supply inventory.
• Coordinate with outside vendors performing housekeeping-related services when assigned.
• Operate housekeeping equipment safely and perform routine maintenance on cleaning equipment as needed.
• Follow all OSHA, YMCA, and departmental safety policies and procedures.
• Participate in required safety meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.
• Communicate facility concerns promptly to the Property Director and collaborate with branch staff to resolve issues efficiently.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Property Director, Senior Property Director, or Branch Administration.

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of one (1) year of professional housekeeping or custodial experience preferred.
• Previous experience in a commercial, educational, healthcare, recreation, or fitness facility is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of floor care, cleaning procedures, and light facility maintenance.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently with minimal supervision.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrates professionalism, dependability, and a positive attitude.
• Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple responsibilities.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, squatting, climbing ladders, and reaching for extended periods.
• Ability to safely operate housekeeping equipment and cleaning tools.

• This is a part-time position, with a typical schedule of Monday through Friday, 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.​​​​​​​
• ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The Housekeeping Associate is expected to maintain reasonable flexibility in start and end times based on facility needs, staffing, special events, and YMCA operations.
• Occasional early morning, evening, weekend, or holiday hours may be required to support special events, deep-cleaning needs, staff coverage, or other operational priorities.
• The work schedule may be adjusted temporarily or seasonally based on the needs of the YMCA.
• Reliable and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• This position requires flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on branch operational needs. The Housekeeping Associate will routinely work around children, families, members, and guests while maintaining a professional, courteous, and service-oriented attitude
• Frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, squat, climb, and reach throughout the workday.
• Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
• Work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions.
• Safely use cleaning chemicals, equipment, ladders, and power-operated cleaning machines.
