The Program Instructor is responsible for leading safe, engaging, and high-quality classes or programs in assigned areas such as health, wellness, sports, group exercise, fitness, recreation, or other specialty programs.
This role creates a welcoming, inclusive, and encouraging environment that supports participant safety, skill development, confidence, continued participation, and connection to the YMCA community.
Qualifications:- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience coaching, teaching, instructing, or leading structured programs preferred.
- Knowledge of basic exercise science, fitness leadership, sports instruction, recreation, or the assigned program area preferred.
- Ability to demonstrate assigned curriculum, skills, movements, or activities safely and effectively.
- Ability to provide clear directions, visually monitor participants, and respond appropriately to safety needs.
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and participant service skills.
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain within the required YMCA timeline.
