Qualifications:POSITION SUMMARY
The Specialty Program Instructor II is responsible for providing quality leadership and supervision in Yoga classes, while maintaining a safe, non-competitive environment and building relationships with class participants and members.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 18 years of age
- Meet requirements of National Yoga certification
- A degree in physical education, exercise science or other health related field preferred
- Minimum of 1 year professional experience in leading group exercise is preferred (preferably Yoga class instruction)
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Obtain and maintain certifications in CPR AED, First Aid and Oxygen Administration
- Obtain and maintain required training, including Safety & Risk Management and Child Abuse Prevention
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding personal information on children, family and YMCA staff
- Ability to maintain required program and department documentation and records
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and transport equipment if needed
- Ability to visually inspect the strength and cardio-respiratory areas for equipment in need of repair and report problems to the Wellness Director
- Ability to demonstrate exercises and proper use of equipment as needed
- Ability to assist in cleaning and maintaining the equipment
- Ability to interpret association goals, objectives and policies to the community and membership
- Ability to visibly observe participants
- Ability to concentrate even when distracted by noise and activity
- Ability to communicate effectively with participants, staff and volunteers
- Ability to reason, solve problems and make independent judgment and decisions
- Ability to observe and promote safety and security procedures
- Ability to physically and mentally respond to emergencies and administer CPR, First Aid and Oxygen effectively
