GENERAL FUNCTION
Under the direction and supervision of the Aquatic Director and Program Specialist, the Head Lifeguard is responsible for providing a safe aquatic environment for all employees and patrons, plus maintaining the aquatic facility.
Qualifications:KNOW HOW
Ø Minimum 18 years of age due to the hours/days needed to be available to supervise staff.
Ø Experience in YMCA work (1-2 years lifeguard experience preferred), demonstrating the ability to work with others and achieve aquatic program goals.
Ø Maintain current YMCA Lifeguard, Ellis and Associates Lifeguard or American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification, including current First Aid and CPR Healthcare Provider certifications.
Ø Must have the ability to pass basic lifeguard skills test, including swimming 500 yards.
Ø Must be capable of establishing and maintaining positive relationships with staff, parents, program participants, and the general public.
Ø Must be able to work as a team member and possess the core values that meet the YMCA mission.
Ø Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding personal information on children, family and YMCA staff.
Ø Supervisory skills including training and supervising aquatic staff
Ø Must have basic knowledge of pool maintenance and aquatic program.
